I recently retired and moved to the Port Macquarie NSW region.
I had always wanted to buy a metal detector and have a go but never had the time till now.
Have bought a beginners Minelab Go Find 40 (a toy to experienced prospectors but great for a first time prospector) and have tried it out on the local beaches, which has been a lot of fun.
I would apreciate any information on groups, clubs, tips, advise or information about prospecting in this region.
Being very new to prospecting, I need all the help I can get.
I found a very thin coin like item on the beach yesterday which I can't identify. It's very thin and about the size of a 20 cent piece.
I'm nervous about cleaning it and would appreciate any advice. It's probably junk but I'm a novice so can't be sure.
I did try to upload photos but it wouldnt work (my files might be to big).
