Bought a $65 detector on ebay for the wife instead of a pointer. It has a ferrous and nonferrous scale on either side of the midpoint 0. It will locate what she digs out of a hole. It is rated at 180 mm max.in sand. You can dig the mullock heaps and locate gold with the 705 if you are not fussy about some hard yakka. A lot of nuggets were found that way in the 80,s by the previous generation of fossickers.
