The delivery man dropped a long awaited packaged off this morning, the new HF coil for the Deus. Assembly is a bit more complicated than the normal coils, with a small plastic "washer" to be inserted in the end of the stem for the cable to route around, along with running the cable up through the stem for the battery pack to screw into. When the foam washer is added, and the stem is bolted to the coil, the fit is quite tight, though I'm sure it will free up over time. The tension of the coiled cable holds the battery pack neatly in place at the top of the lower stem.

As per usual the kit is supplied with a spare bolt and washer assembly for the coil, also included is a red plastic cable guide to help route the coil cable up through the stem.

The actual coil is a bit lighter the normal 9" coil, obviously now due the battery now being mounted in the stem, so should be a doddle to swing for long periods with weight more evenly distributed.

Pairing up was a cinch, entered the new serial number into the remote with instant boot up.

Looking forward to a bit of a play out in the field today, might be dodging a bit of rain though. :)

Sweet, the Deus will seperate better than any other with the oval one. Imagine some missed small silver will be found with your new coil.

It has already found its first Victorian silver on the last hunt, first one for that site too! ;)

Very cool. How does it compare to the original 9 inch? Blows it out the water?

Tteasureman, I don't have the original 9" coil, only the 11" and 13x11" to go by, so working with a clean slate here. From what I have seen on overseas forums, the 54kHz frequency is getting some rave reviews unmasking on iron infested sites. Seems to do a lot better at discerning between iron and non-ferrous than the two lower frequencies, albeit with lesser depth capability - not that you are going to get targets at great depth on such contaminated sites anyway.

Personally I've only scratched the surface at this stage usng the 14.4kHz frequency, and it has already pulled some good finds from a very difficult to detect site. Some of those targets had mixed iron/non-ferrous tones, so hopefully the 54kHz frequency will be able to clean the tones up a bit. Depending on the weather, I should be able to get out tomorrow for another play on the higher frequencies, will be interesting to see if more targets come to light, and how well it unmasks. :)

That is cool. The hf coil seems to be a monster and on another level. They are raving about it in uk. I like the white look. Reminds me of star wars.

Stormtrooper coil! :D From what I've experienced so far, it seems to do well at picking out coins on edge. Most of the silver coins from the past couple of hunts were all on edge and amongst iron, hence were overlooked previously.
