Hi guys I'd like to draw on your experience if I can.
With Easter coming up I was going to try my hand at detecting and maybe some panning.
I figure its going to be busy with holiday trade, can anyone recommend some sites to try around the Walhalla area or out further.
I have a dodgy knee so access can't be too difficult. Preferably somewhere to camp and detect.
No 4XD so off roading is out. Maybe Aberfeldy? Toombon?
Thanks for any and all help!

Without sounding rude.
Walhalla is known for its gold, yes.
But not a lot of it is detectable gold.
Yes the odd nugget has been found
But most of it is large flake to fly poo.
There is still plenty of gold still peppered though quartz, but again most not detectable.
And without a 4x4 you are only going to areas that has seen alot of traffic.
If you are panning or running a sluice, you can find some gold.

Hi XIV appreciate the feedback. Not sounding rude at all.
Walhalla was just a starting point, more of a trip down memory lane. My bung knee wouldn't get me up any of those valley walls.
But there would have to be places around there with a little less traffic over Easter.
Have you tried around Aberfeldy or Toombon?

Mate leave the detector at home if heading that way and just get out and enjoy the bush and if ya see a likely looking spot for a pan just have a go,it can't hurt to try.
Make sure you check the list of exempt rivers and streams first.

Repeter a Whites GMT or Gold Racer with black sand meter could be a help. Also a Falcon MD20 for the pannings...
