Is there any where on the morningtion peninsula I can have a look for gem stones I know people don't give up spots but would be great full for a general idea
 
Welcome to PA Rj. Unfortunately I can't help you with Mornington Peninsula gems, perhaps a doing a web search might pull something up?
 
As a kid in the late 1960's I used to go with my family to Point Leo looking for topaz. Digging & sieving below the low water mark- great on a hot summers day. I've still got a few water worn ones that I'll get around to cutting one day.

Probably off limits now. Check out your local Gem Clubs I'd suggest the Frankston and Peninsula lapidary club would be a good place to start.
