You know its probably just alloy foil. Look up faraday cages

Inside the box would be 1 or 2 toroid inductors I assume ... with the coil lead wires wrapped around them ..
Basically doing the same thing as clipping a ferrite inductor over the coil lead before it enters the box..
just another way of doing it . Has some effect in minimising EMI but not all IMHO.
