Mini Generators and Bilge Pumps

Just wondering if any body has tried a combination of a mini generator like this

to run a bilge pump like this

To run a high banker/sluice

A set up like this would be relatively light weight, quiet and cheap to run as the genie would only be doing a fast idle

What are your thoughts on this idea

Xcvator I just read the gensets item description and it doesn't seem to have a 12 volt output.

Don't forget the output will need to be at least 16 amps, plus a bit more to allow for losses.

If you are going to run a petrol motor anyway, why not just get a petrol water pump?

It's possible if you use it to charge a battery while it is powering the pump. With the expense of a decent size charger, the battery and the pump and the complexity that goes with it makes me think you're better off with a rato/thornado water pump. The only advantage I can see is you can top up your car batteries with it.

The other consideration is what if it rains or gets wet from your pump, or a dog comes along and pi$$e$ on it

? It's a fragile solution compared to a water pump.
