ID help is this petrified wood or bone

My 7 year old son found this in our usual fossicking creek at Numinbah Valley. It was in the water and is very light in weight. I thought it might be petrified wood or bone. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

To me it looks like a piece of jasper or chert. If there is petrified wood i the area it still could be wood, but does not seem to show grain.

Looks to me like chert thats been knapped and part of a bigger piece like a primitive axe

Didn't they use small ones like that for cleaning all the meat off the bones ?

Yeah I'd say Chert as well. Has some interesting textures to it, most likely just from the river tumbling.
