Anyone find opals or heard of found in this area? Or nearby?

Seen some huge nodules like yowah nuts on an excavation ( and weighing up the possibility of any hidden inclusions)

In a sandstone cliff I cracked a few open. Several had hollow cavities, others had a white powder.

Others had a metallic ironstone sheen inside. But they do crack off layer by layer.

Any input? I'll post some photos when I revisit next year.

Concretions are not uncommon but for opal you'd see some evidence of potch at least. You require silica for opal.

I have found some in the Northern suburb of Brisbane. The rock in which the opal was in was common to the area.
That was in the 80's. Not to say it may have come from somewhere else though!
