That is the second time this winter, wind power is the problem have to be shut down in high winds.
The link between Vic could not handle the load.
Gee green power is good, but some one has got save the world.
The other good news is we are going the same here in Vic,our dopey premier wants to go green in Vic with wind generators.
Imagine,if we had a black out,and they had a night footy game on.

Regards Frank

Looks like unless power is restored in 3 to 4 hours the phone net work will crash because that's how long the Phone network battery back up is able to handle an outage. Then we will have to rely on land line...which I for one don't have anymore. So not even sure if our Internet will still work
What a stuff up.

Ironically my uni research topic at the moment is Why is electricity so expensive in SA. Frank nailed it. SA relies on wind. If it doesn't blow, or it blows to hard, they can't run them. We had back up gas generation which couldn't compete against the wind power. So it closed. So now we rely on the feeds from Victoria. Just wait until summer kicks in. Then you will really see problems.

Let's hope our Victorian brain dead premier doesn't implement green power here before summer then. If or when it happens both Vic and SA will be knackered. I'm thinking it'll be a long year of weather if the fire season persist like the rain let's hope not

Eighty thousand lightning strikes have hit SA, unbelievable never heard those figures quoted before, amazing. Stay safe all in SA

One day you will be clever enough to look at the global picture....but I won't hold my breath!

Yeah the power outage only lasted a few hours in the northern suburbs, none the less it all went out just minutes before preparing my you beaut "Bazz Burgers" so I decided to take a little drive in the hope that something might have some sort of power back-up and serve food, servo's and all was closed, ironically the only place open was the Smithfield Tavern bottle shop, I couldn't believe my eyes, it was so busy the cars were spilling out onto the street!
I guess when there's no power the next best thing is candle light inebriation

We are about to have a similar philosophy imposed on us here in Victoria. Higher cost subsidised alternative power is still unreliable and unnecessary. Yes there is climate change, always has been, always will be.
Can we alter this? No?
Will these green initiatives change things, yes!
They will increase the cost of power and make it more unreliable.
Will we have any impact on climate?
No!
Man cannot control nature, tried to do it in so many ways but climate and weather always wins.

Frank, Can not recall a winter as cold/wet as this year in Perth.
Our solar hot water booster has been switched on for and extended 50 days. We were allowed to turn our garden reticulation back on the first day of spring, hasn't been utilised as yet as we approach October. But we are continuously reminded (TV & radio) we are using too much water.

When are they going to admit it is Season Change NOT Climate Change
