Can't see why, he's up front, ideal for anyone who has the ability to fit new batteries.

"The battery still hold charge for a day, but when you charging takes much longer than before and when is fully charged the led start to flash red for a minute and after that goes off, so selling as FAULTY for parts or repair only, no returns. "

Hi night jar , have a look at the printing , in particular the speaker and headphone symbols , and that the ripoff merchants don't know that lithium ion is two words !!

thanks Brett

Does look sus - also the genuine battery says 7.4 V 68 Wh - not 7.4V 9.2Ah

Buyer beware I'd say.

Well spotted!!

I have a genuine Minelab GPX battery whixh has 9.2AH on it - I think they changed to printing the Wh on it instead of AH at some point, so that's not enough to make it suspicious.

Everything else about it makes it a certain fake, though

Pretty expensive considering its fake and faulty. Anyone taking it with the intent to change the cells can make a pack for less.

Yes Nugget Buster, two genuine batteries here that came with our new 4500's and they both have 7.4V 9.2Ah.

Yep, plenty of fakes about.
Never buy from gumtree unless you pick it up in person.
There's a scammer on there that advertises legitimate looking detectors - ie, not fakes.
But he takes the money and never sends it.
If you've paid into his account, say goodbye to your money.

Ebay at least has paypal protection usually, just check the ad, and only pay via Paypal.

I've reported over a dozen fakes on ebay, and they're usually very quick at removing them.

I'm no expert but at this price and the Chinese plugs makes me think it's fake

I didn't get all the details, but a guy at the training course the other weekend appeared to have a fake. One of the instructors was trying to help him put it together and get it going, but it looked different and I'm not sure it was behaving correctly.

The lengths people will go to rip others off... infuriating

The below Genuine/Fake pics are a few years old and maybe more recent counterfeiters are doing better, but these do show components that are visible in the seller's pic that can be compared:

(There's a non-Aussie three pin plug shown at the bottom of my above clip from the seller's pic, but I believe it's just an international adaptor for an Aussie power supply)

It would be good to see clear pics of the control box for comparison too, but there's nothing in the above component comparos that looks fake to me.

Hi grubstake,

I agree...

The handle looks genuine to me, and nowadays GPX chargers are the international type with changeable pins on them

Looks genuine to me you would have to check serial numb. But it is about the right price. His other stuff is a bit exp though.
