I just came across this and thought i would share. Its a great introduction to whats going on over there.

Interesting, when i went to Kal in about 1970/71 there was no Superpit.
I worked u/g for Western Mining and the end of Boulder rd, past the Boulder Block Hotel.
Then it was a nickle mine, Gold was a by product.
What a different world it was then.

I would hate to have their diesel bill for one day. Great video.

I was working there for Kalgoorlie Mining Associates (KMA) when Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines was first put together from KMA plus the ruins of the Bond Gold empire. Semi-interesting factoid: the new company was originally going to be called Kalgoorlie United Gold Mines until somebody commented that it sounded like a soccer team and the joint owners, Normandy Poseidon and Homestake Gold, decided that wasn't the image they were looking to project for their development of Western Mining's "superpit" concept and Australia's largest open pit gold mine!
