Just for anyone who might be interested...
This is my slice of the Seymchan Meteorite weighing in at over 450 grams. Seymchanis a famous pallasite meteorite, but this slice doesn't include and olivine inclusions. It's a lovely piece nonetheless.
I bought it from an estate sale/auction website for $125 a year or so ago (it also came with a small 10g Gibeon meteorite slice, and a 90g piece of Libyan Desert Glass). It came to me in a frame, and to my horror it was glued to the backing cardboard! So I carefully peeled it off to reveal to my absolute horror what you see below. Massive glue patch and crazy rust. I went online an did my research and set upon attempting to clean it up. And the results are as you can see. I think it turned out pretty well. I removed all of the rust, but couldn't get all of the glue (the remaining brown bits).
And here's a couple of pics of the Libyan Desert Glass. It's a nice piece with a natural conical hole running through it lengthwise, plugged at one end with debris, and some nice bubbles and inclusions in the glass. The pics don't do it justice but it's also a lovely and interesting piece to look at.
