just thought id share some of my first minerals i found which got me into fossicking again. still have plenty to work on but i have lots more specimens now.

the first small piece was my first cabochon, unfortunately it fractured when i was nearly done so i had to make it smaller and round it off.

second piece is jasper which i believe has iron running through it? which gave it a really nice colour and is still one of my favourite cabochons.

Nice ones Luke.

Isn't it great finding the rough then cutting it into a gem. All that's needed is to learn silver-smithing at your club then you can make your own jewellery with gems you have found and cut yourself.

thanks and its a great feeling!, im just about to learn silver smithing i have a nice piece of petrified man fern all ready which im going to make into a necklace for mum for christmas hopefully in time, i'll see if i can post a picture of it below
