recommended reading to get started

Hi folks,
Very new to this, in fact still yet to get started.
I have access to several thousand acres of private land near The Fossickers Way which has huge amounts of quartz, apart from knowing there's some connection between gold and quartz I know nothing.
Is there any good books that will help me get started and learn some of the basics on how what and why of searching for gold in quartz?
There's also some nice creeks running through the rock areas, so maybe you could recommend some good reading to get started in paning also.

These are a good start

Once you start to get your head around Geology and the terms used, try the book on the left if you like to read. There are other books that are more closely related to gold which is probably a bit more interesting at the start.
