I believe that they were still made in Ireland for sale but not available in Australia or USA. The Ireland factory I think may have closed - they may be getting rid of the leftover stock?
If they've now made some available for the US we might get some here? Nice price!

I edited above John - think Ireland either stopped making them or closed the manufacturing side?

Oh That's a Shame because They are A Favourite,

Thanks for the Info,,, John

Sorry RR, I couldn't wait so I called Minelab in South Australia today. They confirmed that the 4500 is being re-released and it WILL hit our shores.

When? End of August they are expecting the first shipment to be available for sale. I wasn't given the specific price point for but the woman I spoke to said it would be around the same as the SDC 2300, just under $4000.

Well Done, That's good news,

Looks like Minelab have realized we Need an Industry Standard for Gold Detectors, Which is A Great Idea,

John

It seems to me Minelab are flooding the market with mid ranged detectors.
Maybe they are scared of something in the pipeline from another manufacturer,
Or,
Things not flowing so well at the top end of the market from the 7000.

Bit like Holden releasing the VL commadore again.

Yeah I was thinking that might be because the ZED is not flowing out the door, The 45 and the 5K seem to be the Go To machines and there is a lot of folks still using them, So Maybe they are Listening at Last,

Maybe they just want to get rid of excess stock that was destined for the African market? Much like Whites with the SPP!

Nothing like that unless Holden have been making the VL for overseas markets & now have a surplus to sell?

The GPX4500 was still being made but not recently available in the US or Australia. Now it is again.

The 45 is A Damn Fine Machine, I wish they had not stopped making them, In fact I think it is the Standard that all Machines should be Judged By.

From what I've seen with it it's definitely right up there. While I wouldn't say better than the GPX5000 some would! I think it's on par in many respects & for the price in my opinion will be the best value for money gold detector available hands down.

I was surprized as to how many member still own and use the 45, When most of us Trade up to the Next Latest and Greatest, But with the 45 you get that feeling LIKE it almost Guarantees Success, I know No machine Can really do that, but there's Just Something about it That Says If It's There I gonna find It, Silly way of thinking I know But It just feels right.

Theres a lot of crusty old, hard core prospectors & detectorists around still using a GPX4500 that refused to "upgrade" to the GPX5000 for good reason.

Well I was beginning to wonder, There's a lot of happy 45 user's out there, I was going to get the 48 but I felt like I was cutting corners even though it is One of the Top 3 Machines, then I was heading for the 5k, But if they bring the 45 here I will jump on it,

3200 bucks for a brand new 4500.
Less than the 2nd hand market.

Bargain

I might replace the SL's battery Pack with 8 Viagra Tablets and turn it into A TDI 8000, lol
