Haha yep I know what it's like Willo.... Pellet ratio 50/1?
It's amazing just how deep those little buggers can get down. Glad you got some gold they are great machines.

Oh, wow, I'm still looking forward to my first one. It's in great condition, with plenty of detail on the highlights, congratulations!

Heatho know what you mean about a gold drought, this was my sixth consecutive trip to the coast for no gold, just have to keep plugging away! Willo

That's great looking bedrock in the creek Willo, have you ever tried crevising it after a flood?

Pete no I haven't but you are right on the money with the idea, it had a lot of water in it after recent rain!. Willo

Heatho,

Go further west young man.

Have to line up a trip with Wally to the Central West and get some NSW Gold!

Sounds good to me RS, keen to meet you regardless of gold...... though gold and meetup would be the best of both. :D Was meant to be heading out this week but...... got a few things to do early in the week then CT scan on Friday to see how my lung is going, then specialist on following Tuesday, if I get the all clear will be heading away for a few days on the Wednesday to goldlen fields, errrr well hopefully, well even 1 piece would cheer me up. Ever since I gave up smoking the gold has eluded me, not going to smoke to find it though. :p

I feel for you Willo, 6 times to an area without at least a speck is tough going. I'll keep at it mate, will just make that next nug a much sweeter find and well appreciated.

I hired one of these detectors for the weekend and went out around beringa first day and to tarnagulla 2nd day I was amazed how deep it can find those little shotgun pellets
but if you can find them, that deep your bound to find gold with it eventually.

good luck

I havent got much experience with detectors but it still was a descent bit of gold and not far down,i was expecting the GPX5000 to have a lot stronger signal than that

Sorry I di not see this comment, I agree sometimes the sound can be much more subtle,I wonder if it depends on how the gold is sitting in the ground etc. Willo

Beginners luck with the GPX 5000 - back to January 2012

Whilst my first piece of gold was about 0.2 gram with a GP 3500 with Golden Triangle tours in 2009, my first piece found with my newly acquired GPX 5000 was this nugget as a raw learner. Probably helped to fan the flames of the bug...Ian
