Quartz sample. Help please.

Hey guys, can someone please give me some insight into this Quartz sample I have. Does it have the potential to be gold bearing? You can't see in the photo, but it has quite a few black shiny crystals. I think they are tourmaline, not sure. Any help appreciated

Hay Shingles,

All quartz has the potential to carry gold but not all quartz carries gold.
You have to look at the history of the area it came from to give you a guide as to the likelihood of gold occurrences.
Were there any hard rock mines in the district?
Your sample looks mineralised but there is only one sure way to find out, crush it and pan it out.

Big gold area 20klms nth and 15klms Sth. But not known in this area, only rumours. More interested in what the other minerals are in this Quartz. Can anyone tell?

It looks like limonite after pyrite and maybe a little calcite.

Thanks swright. I'm really starting to get into the geology side of prospecting. Btw I crushed the sample, and found it not to be aurifurious. Lol, hope I termed that correctly. :lol:
