Hi all.typical newbie question but ya never know if you dont ask.Hve a mate thats got 100 acres up Canoona (central qld) way that we are just starting out having a dig on.well known gold area with the main fields aprox 400 mtrs from his front door.in the creek (only water in it when it rains )there's bulk quarts rocks laying around and a couple of "seams" running thru protruding bedrock.just wondering if this is the sort of rock in looking for? I'll take pics of the creek next time im out there and see what ppl might suggest.

Sounds promising there geneclark77,

Your in a known gold producing area and your in a creek with chunks of quartz laying everywhere. Dig down around the exposed seams and pan out until you find good colour.

Keep us posted

Your "Go TO" spots for sampling are the creeks, they have the secrets so let them talk but you need to know how to listen!!!!!!!!!!!!! study the characteristics of the "Gold" you find no matter how small, rough, smooth, sharp or dull even differing colour, make detailed notes, but above all have some fun man!!!!!!!!!
cheers
