Hi all.

One of my other passions as well as coin detecting is to look through any loose change that I get, trying for some rarities and low mintage coins.

I thought I'd start this post so that any like minded members can join in too.

I got these beauties yesterday.

RAM puts the numbers on the 1991 Ram's head at 4.7 mil and the 1993 COA at 1 mil.

Hey there guys.

The round '66 is the obvious one to look out for EM (but probably won't find one in your change).
1973 COA (RAM = 4 mil)
1985 COA (RAM = 1 mil)
1997 COA (RAM = 4.3mil)
2001 Federation varieties
...just to name a few.

Can't post a link to the RAM 50 cent page just yet (I haven't had 10 posts yet)

Great to see some others with this passion! Look forward to seeing some pics Jamie.

I have a full set of 50 cent pieces from 1966 to 2000 in Proof and another set in Brilliant UNC whilst great to collect they will take along time to be worth anything.
The big money is in graded coins or pre-decimal. Gave up on collecting the decimal coins because the big coin dealers have massive amounts in stock.

That's the one jamie!

Nice work there deepblue. I used to have some proof & mint sets way back but sold them. I think what I like about collecting (noodling) is the thrill of the hunt...you just never know what your gonna get (sounds like a line from a movie :) )

Hey Glenno,
Look for the odd ones the mules and miss strikes that's where the money is.

PS Double bar 1979, 1980 and the wide date 1994 also the Millennium incused flag varieties
good luck

You too db.

The 1994 wide date has got me scratching my head. I have seen posts on what to look for but haven't come across one yet.....bit hard to pick. Do you know what mintage numbers are?

Hey Glenno,
Wide Date 1994 for you this coin is graded PCGS MS68 value $125 only 3 examples graded finer at PCGS MS69

Hope this helps,
cheers db

Well done, I sadly am into coin collecting to. :D It all stemmed from silver.

I love the 1993 50cent coin, only 1.5 million minted.

Only need 26 coins to complete the decimal coin set, got a few mulls as well. $$$

Anyone got the Southern Cross Curx coin 2012? that they would like to part with?

If you don't ask you don't get lol
