Took the Mrs young fella out tonight for an hour to try out his christmas present. A GO find 20.
Got half an hour in myself just before it was pitch black. Had to taste test both these little bits as it was too dark to see.

I used the lure of possible gold to get a hand moving some furniture just up the road. It's about a 1700 km round trip from Capel to Cue (Mrs M calls it our "C" change) so the lure had to be good.

Jason has been delivering our Toll freight lately so on top of the offer of a trip to the goldfields he got a day off work as well :)

You can take the man to a place where you cannot pan but you can't take the pan from that same man

Yes Jason, this works too....eventually he worked it out :playful:
We left Capel at midday and arrived in Cue just 11 hours later. We spent the following morning unloading and then rested throughout the heat of the day. By 5:30pm we were off, to a new spot not too far from town, each armed with an SDC2300. We gave the shotgun pellets a hammering and brought up quite a bit of rusty steel as well, however the gold was well hidden. We made it to bed by 1:30am and all we had was three little nuggets from my machine.

Jason's haul for the morning.

The next morning was a different story. Jason was determined to go home with gold so we hit the ground by 5:30am before the heat set in. Jason's story.......

He did well for a guy who doesn't even own a detector....... ;)

My effort for the evening and following morning.

I hoped he'd find a few but he wasn't meant to get more than me...... :( Never mind, next time I'll take him somewhere that I've already stripped bare...... :)

Finally I've done it. After 6 months and about 150 hours I got this gorgeous little 1.1 gram nugget with my 45 on settings I got from NG when I went out with him in Ararat. You're right mate, those settings are sweet. Found it north west of Moonambul.
