lol i was thinking the same the thing similar the other day. its only been 2-3 months of finding my first silver and now they are coming in every hunt. But i doubt its anywhere near you collection

That's coming along nicely TM,...at this rate you'll soon need a bigger chest.
 
would you call that patina,...I'da taken that off by now if I knew how(ha),...I won't touch that one at all now though. I do remember finding it and frantically looking for the rest(to no avail),....went over it again a few times as well, and still no more.

I've tried wet bicarb, but its a bit like using a super fine powder cleanser(through the loupe). I will try your method when I get a lemon though.
I don't mind if we all put our pictures of silver finds in here !

I always check to see if their valuable ( never are :mad: ), if not I soak them in lemon juice for about 10 minutes then use Bi-Carb to wipe off the dirt :)

Someone posted what they collected last year (might have been over a 6 month period), I really liked that idea so I'm trying to do something similar :)
My silver coin count for the year is 22 :p

Mix one part Molasses and five parts water. Let them sit for a few days. That works brilliantly on old iron and steel but am not entirely sure about coins.

Most of these coins(all the pretty silver ones) were retrieved in the one part of a ripped beach.
You can see on some of them that they were washed around in the sand a bit and abraised on some of the high points.
They were all totally sand encrusted, this protected them from being further abraised when the beach ripped.
Sort of like their own little protective coating from the silver oxide joining with the sand to make a crust.
They were all cleaned using salt and white vinegar.

They cleaned up very nicely!
 
Glad you like the coins SunriseBoy,... and yeah, I use molasses on steel as well. :D
 
Thanks B5, not sure where the 2015 silver photos ended up at all (ha). :lol:
 
Yeah Tribsa, specially if I go for a trip over deep creek way, holidays are ripping past though hey. ;) I'll get there eventually though
:D and well have to have a bit of a hunt together. :p
