Hi all..in a few weeks I'm off with the lovely missus for a stay at the gemtree caravan park..off the plenty highway NE of Alice and will be looking for Garnet and zircons..will be doing the guided tour and also for a few days will be off fossicking on my own..anyone been their...any recommendations?

G`day, spent 3 weeks there in 2012, the tours from gemtree will help you get your eye in.Think all the gear is available from the caravan park but a washtub and willoughby are essential as stones need washing(same as sapphire). I spent only 1 day on the garnets in 3 weeks and got enough.the rest on the zircon.love that stone

Ringing Gemtree about what gear to bring is my best advice.
