Help in identifying stone

Hi guys,

Hubby was chatting to one of our neighbours and mentioned that we go fossicking. The neighbour handed him this large stone and asked if I could try and find out what it is.
He didn't think to ask where he found it or any other details unfortunately.
It is quite large - 5-7cm and heavily fractured, but it is really glassy. Some of the sides have been chipped/fractured and it seems to have broken away in a similar fashion to glass. Its very bright in the parts that aren't fractured, however it is also heavily soiled, so unfortunately the brightness doesn't show up clearly.

Any ideas would be great as I am very curious too. Thanks

Is it typical of the shape/formation of quartz though?

Looks like glass to me.

Definitely quartz with iron stone stain.
