It's flooding down here in Goulburn at the moment, and I think its a similar story elsewhere in NSW as well. I hope everybody stays safe and the floods produce lots of new flood gold for us all!!!

so if i camp 20 feet from the river this week i might wake up and find my tent drifting off the coast of Tasmania ?

certainly cheaper than a cruise ship

:|

i have heard that in the top end you can get flash floods in a dry zone that hasnt seen rain for ages , but the flood has come from a storm 10 miles away 8)

Its been pouring here for 4 days.... I have a pond outside my front door now  Just wish there was some gold in the garden to highbank ;)

Hay Ian,
Just throw the contents of your snuffer on the lawn, then you'll have something to highbank :D

Any news on the river height at Oallen?

Cheers
Mick

Hey guys you are going to give me bad ideas ;)
Mick I have seen the river as high as 7-10m reported in a few places and others saying about 5 and holding, though now a lot of it seems to be talking about down river past Nowra, may have to take the son for a drive and have a look what its like here.

i was going to ask if anyone had been down for a look at its highest . might give us ideas about the behaviour of its passengers

take a camera ?

best wishes

There was a flood warning issued for the Shoalhaven, but apparently the waters are receeding now...time to head out to Oallen i guess :)

Have not been to the ford recently to look at the river (was just going to check a little closer to home today) but do have a few photos of flooding a little while back.

Yep makes sense, your gonna potentially find a lot more in places less frequently considered, and hopefully a lot bigger. Interesting article.

A local historian showed me a gravel deposit 20m up a gully..1910 flood...its been long covered by dirt and grass 2foot deep. Its real hard on the pick once you get to it? I covered it back up saving it for a future adventure...good thread DD. :)

Thanks for the post

Very very interesting considering where i'm working at the moment.......Time to start looking up
