I went to a new spot in a creek below a known gold area (well a long time ago) found this over 3 pans in some black sand at the bottom of a hole in the bed rock. I'm thinking lead. The silver bits are malleable and can be easily scratched the black bits less so for both. All up weight is 3.1g.

Most of the time you can scratch old lead with your thumb nail.
But gold can be coated black from some oxides etc.
Don't ever put old lead in your mouth but. Toxic coating builds up on it.
Not a good repetitive habit.

I remember going fishing with my father and tightening the lead sinkers onto the line with my teeth. Also a mate had a jar of mercury that we used to play with.... I thought it was the alcohol that was my issues....!!!! LOL LOL :argh: Things I wished I knew then.
