Has anyone got a brand name of a bottle Jack that has twin lift pistons? Two stage stoke lift.
( not meaning threaded adjuster)
Found one 5 years ago for a friend, but can't remember the brand....

A twin piston ram has two stages.
An inner ram raises firstly, then once it hits its max height, a secondary outer sleave ram pushes it up as well.
Almost doubling the lift capacity height.
E.g 1 , single piston ram Jack....(excluding adjustable thread)
# squat height = 200mm...max lifting capacity range 180mm. ( ram max lift stretch) = 180mm lift height)

E.g. 2 , twin ram/piston Jack... ( excluding adjustable thread)
# squat height =200mm .... max lift lifting capacity range 350mm,
This the actual raising height it can do, 170mm more lift height.
Due to a twin stage/ dual ram piston/s.

These are reguardless of squat height, or threaded adjustments.
More about lift height ratio over there squat height.

A single stage ram simply cannot lift more than the height of the Jack.
But a twin/2 stage ram/piston Jack can almost double the lift height capacity

otherwise known as a '2 stage telescopic' cylinder
Thanx DD. that's the type I'm chasing!
Rare, but they are the go!
Once you use one, no going back to single.
As with a decent size tyre, you need at least 120mm of lift from a flat to get to ground zero...
Then take in the uneven ground height equation.. .
The threaded adjuster makes no difference at all to the overall lift height capacity.

Do you know anybody on the Mornington Peninsula that can pick it up ? I used it to lift 5 ton excavators and bobcats up high enough to take tracks and wheels off. Total lift was about 300mm. Pumped up the 1st stage untill it just cleared the lift point, push it into place and pump like hell, 1st stage was the easy bit.

Thanx m8, but this is just a single piston Jack, with adjustable head.

No doubt you already know that you can save time and energy. You don't need a high lift jack, can become unstable and dangerous when extended, especially on the beach.
All you need to do (if high profile tyre is flat) is jack until weight of vehicle is achieved then simple matter of digging a few inches of dirt out from under wheel to remove/fit spare.

It's not really a "high lift " Jack .
A standard 200mm high bottle Jack will on average lift 185mm .
A twin ram might lift an extra 120mm. = 305mm
"Dangerous"... you should only ever raise the car high enough to change it, common knowledge not to get under the vehicle when only using a any Jack.
And always use car stands if you do so.
I always get the spare out firstly and lay it half under the side of the vehicle until it the flat is off, then a quick swap at refit.
I've had a scissor Jack strip it's thread before and collapse.
You never get under a car again only using a Jack after seeing that!
Anyhow , at the end of the day...
They are a better option to have over a single lift Jack.
