You can get valuations done by a Gemologist at a jewelers, I'm not sure of the going rate. If your just looking to get a stone identified I'd take it to your local lapidary club.
I am getting a few stones cut at the moment and I am looking a $45-$100 per stone these are really really good stones that we have collected over the past 12 months. Price will vary depending on the cut, time taken, quality of the stone and finished weight and is something you should talk about with your gem cutter once they have had a chance to assess your stones, they should also tell you if your better off sending it overseas.
