Anyone know what these are found in white clay.

U cant see the white clay I found a band off which is where they came from

I reckon that they were originally organic matter - like a seed or something, and it landed on the bed of a shallow sea, or lake, and over time it got covered by silt - it then rotted away and the cavity left in the silt/clay was filled with mineralised water which dried out over time, leaving the mineral, which in this case was silica.

So I reckon that it's silica, and the action of it's creation is called a secondary intrusion.

Bloody nice collaring work around the top of the shaft, Looks like a Jeff Williams special. What are you hoping to sink the shaft into? Try a bit of Hydrochloric Acid on those nodules, if they fizz in the acid they may be some form of limestone.

Thanks Jethro, yes it sure is Jeff Williams special
Better to be safe than sorry I figured.
Im hoping to find the old alluvial god wash.
Ive come across the quartz stringer on edge of shale, there has been reef gold found here to :D
Ok I will try the acid thanks again.
