Friday morning dawned cloudy and very humid up here in the High country of Victoria. Perfect weather for a day in the creek. The rapid Gold pursuit Ute had been loaded up the evening before with sluice boxes, pans, prybars, snorkel gear buckets shovel yabbie pump and Kayak. The plan was to load all my gear onto the Kayak and make 1 trip up the creek from the little camping area to the gold hole instead of three.

I spent the day digging behind a large bedrock outcrop and feeding the river sluice. Got thouroughly wet due to depth of hole in water and thunderstorms. cleanup around lunchtime produced a lot of black sand and gold.

Ended up about waist deep which negated the use of the yabbie pump to clean up the bottom and I ran out of shovel handle too so I;ll need to bring the long handled shovel next time.
Black mineral sand was very difficult to deal with in the clean up. I think a blue bowl may be an option. Heres the cleaned product in a film canister ( yes kiddies thats what us old people used to use to store our memories on /in before our phones went wireless n smart)

Anyone care to guess how much is in the canister. :goldpan:

0.4 grams.Great idea with the kayak Jethro, you obviously didnt paddle it though because there is no room left on it for you to sit.Nice looking gold too.

Im gunna have an edumacated guess and say it appears to be more than last weeks .748grams but no pickers this time. I reckon it will be just shy of the magic gram at .985. Ill weigh it after tea tonight and post a scaley pic. closest to the pin Geeeetttsss :playful: ........................................... The recognition of being a good estimator of weight of gold in the filum cannister :)

Sooo the results are in. 1.063grms of good yella. The closest to the mark was AussieFarmer his estimation skills must come from looking down into silos and saying things like "yep ten bags of wheat should be enough to sow that last bit"..
