I came across a dry river bed on a mates farm full of basalt and red jasper with quartz veins through them, is the a likelihood of gold being found there
We did walk up the river today with a cheap detector that was giving off some readings
But as we are new to this any help would be great

Is,the area,known for gold?
Buy a cheap gold pan & sample some areas of the river. Inside bends, around big rocks, cracks/crevices etc.
It will tell you more than a cheap detector will.

I agree with mbasko - $10 gold pan will tell you if gold is present and then work your way up from there :Y:
