Does any on here own a Garrett AT Max & if so how does it handle the golden triangle or do you no someone that has one & finds gold with it?
 
NoEyeDear, note, stated in a key point made in the review link (posted by PeterinSA) above;
"It's worth pointing out that this is not a gold detector though. While Garrett might claim you can hunt for gold with it, the 13.6kHz frequency means it's never going to be a good option for real gold prospecting"
to go for gold you really need either 1: a PI detector, &/or 2: a VLF that can be tuned to reduce/minimise the hot ground noise you will get.
A good 2nd hand older PI unit is always a good budget starting point
