Hi all,
for those that need the extra length out of your 7000 because you are tall or have a big tummy like me, a solution is at hand and an easy one.
I replaced the top shaft with almost an exact match in size and style with a longer one I cut from a piece I bought on line.
I added 6 inches to the shaft, the flexible coil lead pulled up nicely through it.
The removed shaft stays as is for when you need to replace it. I thought I might need to cut it up for the plastic extrusions both ends but no the new shaft slides in perfectly and tightens down with the clamps nice and tight for no movement.
I can now detect standing up straight and not get a sore neck or back from crouching over trying to see the coil. Its now nicely out in front of me.
I also lengthened the push pull stick? by 6 inches. This you have to cut and join but you would never know. added 6 " to this also.
for those interested in giving it a go its 28 x 25 carbon roll wrapped tube 1m long. Its from play with carbon in NSW.
