Minelab Vanquish (340 440 540) tips and questions

It must be an XTerra replacement, as according to the often well-informed MDHunter Russian website, it's coming in three flavours, all using VFlex IQ technology and two frequencies (7 and 18.75 kHz):

Vanquish 340 - manual ground balance, 9 inch search coil

Vanquish 440 - manual ground balance, 11 inch double-D coil

Vanquish 540 - automatic ground balance, 11 inch double-D coil

I think it will be interesting to see how they handle gold prospecting capability/marketing of the Vanquish if it's possibly replacing the X-terra series. I don't think that they will leave the 800 as the cheapest current model with (marketed) gold capability. Kind of leaves the 600 in a weird position too, I'll second that they'll probably can it going forward. Deffo going to be proper simultaneous multi-IQ, not just selectable, since all their marketing with the Equinox claimed that it "obsoletes all single frequency VLF detectors", I doubt they would immediately follow up that with a model that doesn't use the same tech.

I wonder what the "automatic ground balance" differentiation actually means? Even the Go Finds have ground tracking, you would think that the manual ground balance would be the feature present only on the higher tier...

I thought I would start a thread dedicated to any information on the new machine due out later this year.

I know some of this stuff has probably been posted but this might make it easier to find.

I just noticed this Makro Racer coil looks very similar to the photo of this middle coil as in the video - are they sourcing parts elsewhere?

I'd say about a 0% probability, the coil in the clip looks to be the largest coil on offer for the Vanquish, probably similar to the 15x12" for the Equinox. Other manufacturers have similar but overall different coil designs as found on Makro and Fisher detectors, though in 11" elliptical format.

mmmmm, they must have made heaps of money with noxs! More compact is good news. A Perfect back up detector for My Deus!

I know right!? CTX is very old now! Why don`t they update it! Call It Simply CTX6060!

Recent conversations with "ML people" have me going to the conclusion that the Vanquish is an all rounder that has same tech as
the NOX machines but more of a budget model that is 3m waterproof also.

Spec'd lower than the NOX600 and designed to replace the Xterra models.

So nothing new here, its already been suggested in this thread.

Or maybe the CTX 1080. 8.(

The "ML people" I mentioned in my last post, are ML employee's.
While it is a new model, not everyone is involved and I reckon the Marketing department has a good handle
on creating hype in the market place.

I think the Vanquish will be good value for $ when it comes on market, and in my opinion will be
in time for the Christmas market.

But dont hold your breath on that guess.
