Went for hunt #59 yesterday, bit of scrub land what used to be the property of an 1850s hotel/pub owner:

1558241439_fd2dfd45-ee35-4a3a-8bce-d7819aebc384.jpg

Nothing much to report, few pieces of semi interesting junk, part of an old door or gate - D buckle.

Pretty slim pickings, scrub was pretty thick in places...

Had abit of a funny moment, got the old double beep from the nox knew I had a surface find. Looked down, small silver coin with what looked like King George... On closer inspection, it was bloody Roosevelt... 2014 US Dime lol

Until next time

Cheers

I know right, not to mention the part of a bong I found in the middle of the scrub lol

Last few hunts have been busts, tonight however I’ve just organised 2 permissions for the next two weekends. One a old site with some ruins, and another an old gold mine with ruins also, both mid 1800s

Fingers crossed for some luck thumbsup

Went to one of my permissions today for hunt #60:

1558872330_ad0e2b79-b567-44a6-97f2-a506ca125977.jpg

Very slim pickings, tough ground to detect... struggled to keep the detecting stable, did manage to score my first ever snake buckle! Shame it’s not complete but it was still a good consolation prize for the day

Went out to a few places for hunt #61 today,

First spot, a private permission of a 1910 property was a bust.

Then just drove around looking and trying a few spots with no luck! Finds have been pretty minimal lately, I’m just waiting to stumble across a nice honey hole! It’ll come!

I did manage to find a 40s-50s bottle dump today though

1559211014_56dd7a04-9758-4d8d-a28c-462688c7c030.jpg

Found these 4 within 10-15mins but then gave up on digging more because I’m not that keen on bottles really, but they’re cool enough! I passed on the details to another forum user here so keen to see what he digs up!

I found this also, shame it wasn’t complete:

Got a permission Sunday at an old 1870s goldmine site, fingers crossed thumbsup

Cheers

Heck yeah, that was one of my top bucketlisters, only beaten by the cricket buckle!

Oops, forgot to tick off 50% thrips a while ago!

Hit a new park after work for hunt #63

Was great to get out at night again, very peaceful

1559827544_75b9fa4e-6f68-4514-8fc1-d5612d52e114.jpg

Had a decent night on the spendables

1559827591_0ddafd70-6a75-4c43-8c35-ff15d6b5b32e.jpg

$20.10, junker ring and a little toy plane thing!

Police came by about 2 hours in, hit me with their spotlight and shouted from their car asking what I was doing! To which I replied “abit of metal detecting” they said “okay, good luck” and left on their way lol

At the start of this thread I described how I lost a sixpence... well as it turns out it had made a home for itself amongst my 1c/2c!
Close to 1000 if not more coins in the tub so I’m not surprised it found refuge there, it was probably revered as a god amongst mere copper coins lol

I had looked in that tub 4-5 times since because I always had a hunch I threw it in when I put the 1c/2c back!

It was well hidden, but I’m glad to have it back lol

Couple spoons, name plate, ruler hinge, Paris buckle, roo penny and these two beauties

1918 sixpence is a beauty, low mintage coin!

And always love a Brit penny!

Cheers

Went for a night hunt for hunt #65 with a couple of lads:

1560434687_f64743f5-6c6a-4988-b03f-2ce82276e322.jpg

$11.10 and a penny, half penny, Brit penny and a little thrip

Found this beauty 1875 penny under a tree root:

Scored a silver for the night too:

Had an RDO today and went for hunt #66, went back to the same spot as last hunt, came up with some beauties:

Scored my oldest ever silver today after about 20 mins on site:

1560926528_b340de51-f89c-4320-a053-f57cb9cdbc6f.jpg

Did pretty well on silvers today, got the most I’ve ever dug on one hunt:

1560926568_b71a148e-0e34-44dc-953d-59e0a6af67ae.jpg

Also an 1889 vicky half penny:

1560927030_1b5ab3c8-6f94-45b8-97e4-e91c280b8c76.jpg

Scored this too, which I’m hoping is a shot musket ball... it’s not perfectly round and it’s hit something... hopefully it’s not just a banged up sinker:

1560926635_66e6709f-7ef5-4164-b9c3-7baf39ccfe66.jpg

And finally this, which I’m assuming is perhaps some sort of saddlery:

1560926691_af7f4e16-ae8c-47b6-bf03-94a29ce09161.jpg
1560926692_ea4259dd-cca6-4262-ab7a-d2ee8f32951f.jpg

Also got $11.20 in spendables, 2 roo pennies, a toasted commonwealth half penny and a bunch of BBs

It was a day off work well spent! big_smile

Cheers thumbsup
