I love the silver coin history of this country

Just imagine who carried those around in their pockets before they dropped them for you :)

Too cool

Loving this thread and your finds. The silver piece with flower etching is possibly from a cane/riding crop.

Went out last night to a place I can get a pre dec or two occasionally.

Ive been playing with manual settings to get some more depth & was having a little luck finding them but not so much recovering.
My holes were a bit off making recovery harder and I scratched 2 coins
Just one of those nights where your not really on the ball.

I decided to check a little place Id driven past plenty of times but always put off.

Went to the biggest tree, dug a quick target & thought the ground may have been resurfaced so wasnt expecting much.

Next target I thought was a scratchy, shallow bottle top...

5 x Britannia pennys !?

One side was bad & one side was good on all of them so I gave a bit of a polish.

Hi S.S,

I hit it with the Dremel wire wheel & then some brasso.

The brasso started to take off the black/patina so I kept at it.

A little time in lemon juice to help loosen it then plenty of elbow grease with the brasso.

Ive tried with other coins in the past but never got them this clean..
