the weather has been cold here so things just getting started. Frost killed some plants.

If there are any you want to know the name of please reference a pic and I will let you know. All of these surviving plants have some frost tolerence and are probably able to survive in places like inland Victoria as our weather here is colder than Melbourne or Adelaide but slightly warmer than Hobart and Camberra. Things that I have tried but did not work and died with the cold are Hybiscus, frangipani, jacaranda, bannana and coffee. Natal plumbs did not all die but some did and many where damaged so I have transferred those to pots and will try again when they are bigger.I am currently experimenting potential of various trees to later plant out a orchid in a paddock.I am envious of those of you up north who can grow tropical or subtropical things.

I have lost so many seedlings once re-potted and moved outside. The heat here just fries them, only the strong survive.
If I was to put my plants under shady trees then they are exposed to the relentless Warwick wind, out of the wind = more heat..can't win!

Hey Blocker,

Are the flowers (carnations?) Near the corn to keep the bugs away? How effective is it?

Cheers

No, they are marigolds. They are self sown from some I planted years ago. Whenever they come up I just leave them or shift a few around if there are lots.
They do say they are good at keeping some bugs away. Maybe they do work as there are no bugs on the corn.

Use to grow marigolds around in my veggie patch plus around my Rose's...

Along with lot's and lot's of garlic

Goody :D
