Same spot tonight as previous, lots of gridding turned up some interesting finds, though lucked out on silver this time around. Picked a couple of dog tags, including one of the more modern ones from 1953, the silver object to the right of the tags is an axe blade gauge.

As per usual the predecs were in glorious condition, the 1932 hp in particular is pretty much oxidation free. The Astor Swan badge is from an old radio, thought that might be of interest to Rocket.

One of the buttons is an Australian military issue item, still has the shank attached - the horse was a bit of a surprise, also in good nick.

Funny thing that happened tonight was finding the other part of the razor from 2 hunts ago, what are the chances of that happening.

Those older dog tags were on my bucket list at one stage, now they are almost expected at most older country home sites. I only ever found one when previously living in Adelaide.

I really love that Astor badge with the swan on it,and the little horsey is cool too.

Well found on the relics once again. You must have quite the dog tag collection now.

Latest detect was at the same site as previous, searching for any random targets missed from previous gridding. Was a long time between targets, and several hours only produced a few coins - a couple of silvers made it worthwhile, along with a silver hoop from an earing. The larger predec coppers were not very obvious targets, and mostly sitting on edge in the hole.

Unfortunately the rain is currently holding up detecting activites, hopefully it will head off to the Eastern states before long.

Yes I do enjoy squeezing every last target out my local spots, it really does train your senses to pick up on the faintest of tones.

All done at night too, so no peeking at the screen - ear based discrimination so to speak.

That must have been a very nice way to spend a few hours.

That's how they come out of the ground, aside from a light wash. Sandy well drained soils tend to leave coppers in very good condition down here, also very little mineralisation.

Headed back to an 1800's house site today with renewed enthusiasm. Found it very hard to locate much of worth last trip, hence was quite surprised at how many targets I managed to detect.

I put it down to concentrating more on deep marginal targets that would have been overlooked previously, and doing the best I can to cover as much ground as possible.

Ran the Deus with the 11" coil initially before swapping over to the 9" HF coil for the junkier section where the house used to stand. The musket balls are a real good clue how old the site is, not to mention the large 1860's Victorian HP. Other finds incude a round lead decoration from saddlery, a couple of pieces of silver (part pob watch case & bracelet chain), two very nice buckles one of which is still partly gold gilt, and other typical Victorian era relics.
