This one has possibly the longest title in history?

Australia and its gold fields : a historical sketch of the progress of the Australian colonies, from the earliest times to the present day : with a particular account of the recent gold discoveries and observations on the present aspect of the land question : to which are added notices on the use and working of gold in ancient and modern times and an examination of the theories as to the sources of gold
by Edward Hammond Hargraves

Yet another trove of great historical records relating to our goldfields and their early administrators....great reading :)

This one may overlap with the previously posted Mossman book and another Banister book not yet posted. Im still looking for a version with complete maps. Theyve documented fairly extensive travels through the Victorian and NSW gold fields, with each area handily chaptered. If youre interested in Turon for example, you might skip to p226 for a first-hand account of the area, people and gold as they were 165 years ago.

Australia visited and revisited : a narrative of recent travels and old experiences in Victoria and New South Wales

Thx Jemba,
Really enjoy the photos and History, Amazing incite, Next time i pass through Trunkey i'll appreciate where it's come from.
Dolphin.

Thanks guy's, yep i love the old photo's as well they give you a lot of information if you know what to look for. As an example if you are detecting around the old mine sites the ore cart roads are worth note. Why well to my way of thinking some ore must have come of the wagons be it ever so small. :Y:
