Okay ................... lets kick it off.

A boy stood on the burning deck
A pocket full of crackers
One went off between his legs
And blew apart his .................... matchbox toys

Couldn't quite think up a rhyming word to finish but I'm sure I'll get the nack of it soon enough wink

SUNDAY MORNINGS
Morning comes
still wrapped in a veil of darkness
night birds whisle in the sky
as they glide overhead
and somehere in the distance a Plover
letting known he's staked his claim
still yet time before the Kukaburras rise
not yet the morning glow
I wonder still just why I'm up
but silver drives me blind
I smelt it just the other day
that whiff was on the wind
and anyway my clothes are there
just near my socks and boots
I need no light I'll feel my way
my training here kicks in
No sound as I am ready now
my phone and then my keys
I'm out the door so silently
with just a little click
my gears all there
I know it is (it's always in the boot)
I warm the car n slowly leave
won't wake the neighborhood
and now I see that break of day
that hint that all is good
I'm bound to find that silver now
adventures in the wind
and I'll be home
when that thurst has flown
and I feel my weary bones
but I'll feel ok as I stop and say
Will ya's get a load of these
there's silvers there n some goldies too
But ,... no one see's them the way I do
so it's photo shoot
and on with the day
shove em in the cabinet
then they're out of the way.

Counting Autumn Leaves.

Well now I've been standing here, and felt the cold winds blow
Feels like the snow'll soon kiss the eaves
And I'm still missing you, I don't know what to do
And so I'm counting Autumn leaves.

There all falling, turning gold and brown
Crumbling and scattered dreams upon the ground
And I'm still missing you, I don't know what to do
And so I'm counting Autumn leaves.

And though I'm feeling down I think I'll go to town
Whisky's my friend, I do believe.
And I'm still missing you, I don't know what to do
And I'm still counting Autumn leaves.

He's never been and early bird

One of mine after separation 25 years ago called Appearances

All that I meet and talk to, say "You are looking swell",
And also, "You're a marvel, to cope with things so well",
"I couldn't do it myself", they say, "I couldn't find the time",
Well time my friends, I've plenty of, and things aren't all that fine.
Have you ever spent a day, a week, a month and even more,
Just waiting for a call, a visit, from a friend that you adore,
To find the call doesn't come at all, nor did the visitor show,
You wonder what it is about you, what is it that they know.
Oh yes my married friends are there, to lend a helping hand,
A cup of tea or coffee, a chat, they are real grand,
But little use are they to me, in times like just right now,
Alone in my still home at night, no love, no sacred vow.
Day follows day, as always has, sleep, work and home again,
To household chores, essentials, until the energy drains,
Outside the house the garden, and yard, it's gone to pot,
The kids are good, but untidy, they really help a lot.
But a home is just a house my friends, with no lady around,
To share the deeds, to fill the needs, of all as they are found,
To give the balance so desired, the so called other half,
A sounding board, a source of wit, someone to make you laugh.
There's more to say as usual, I could go on for e'er,
But what's the use, few understand, for they have not been there,
So I lift my chin and answer, "Yes things are really great",
While underneath I say to myself, "If only you new mate".

Now 25 years happily single.

Gotta love the HEART breaker one's thumbsup Heres one I wrote a lovely young lass I was taking out for awhile that appeared to have a keen interest on my wallet .................. her gift from me in the Valentines notices in the paper.

I could buy you diamonds
Apartments by the sea

I have found that stress of different sorts brings out the "bard" in me and I have dozens of them from that era.

I guess it was mainly a may of getting the crap out of me that the stress had caused and many of them were just that, "crap".

PabloP. it surely was a great way for you to cope at the time!...words are powerful anti-depressants when wrtten down. You can leave the hurt there on the page...and focus on what you have to do...you can always go back there...to that hurt if you need to ...'download a little more',...even if it's crap.
I'm sure it went a long way in 'getting you through.'....Really well done mate! big_smile thumbsup

Ok, here is another one. By the way I couldn't pull two words together no-a-days, as I am too settled down.

This is called - Oh Why, Oh Why.

I lie alone in my room at night,
My only company a reading light,
The days, the nights, the years drift by,
I wonder Lord, Oh why, Oh why.

I rise at dawn, another day,
To face the life that comes my way,
It slips on past like clouds in the sky,
Alone though Lord, Oh why, Oh why.

With children four, who'd ask for more,
My kids, the family I adore,
To share their fun, to calm a cry,
That is my life, Oh why, Oh Why.

No loving friend to share my life,
The highs, to lows, the joys, the strife,
To the ether round I say, I sigh,
Why me, Oh Lord, Oh why, Oh why.

And another one after the son of close family friends died. He suffered from Cystic Fibrosis and I had known him since his birth as I had known his dads family since school days and had worked with his dad on and off for many years. They had lived in the same set of housing units when Scott was born. He had always been a cheerful lad and his passing was quite a loss, although not unexpected.

Scottie
Scottie, I'm proud to have known you, to consider myself a friend,
To a lad whose love and zest for life was an example to the end,
You'd have a go, say "Yeah", when many around would shirk,
Even though the task at hand, meant twice their effort and work.

Small of stature you may have been, a quirk dealt by Gods hand,
But big of heart, of intellect, a giant in our land,
Life to you was for living, why mope around sad or low,
"Come on let's get going, you fellows are all so slow".

Scottie was only sixteen when taken to Gods side,
A lad still, but so wise of heart, he was Mum & Dads just pride,
A son whom God must have loved so much to want him by his hand,
Even though to us mere mortals it's hard to understand.

Life's race you've run, always up the front, much smarter than the rest,
In this the biggest test of all you still turned out the best,
We'll see you soon young Scottie, just save a spot for a friend,
You beat us there, as usual, you were the winner in the end.

As you can see it was the stress/strain that made me put pen to paper.

May have been good at the time and it served its purpose to get things off my chest.

I just hope that a few others here can draw on their hidden talents to get them out of a stressful hole, as I have done in the past.

I have another one or two that I may put up later, but keep them coming as I sit back and enjoy the work of others.

The Lure

The heat of the day sat heavy on my shoulders
Sweat ran from my brow as I turned over boulders

Aching and bleeding and too stubborn to stop
I dug and I burrowed 'til I felt I would drop

The lure is set and the traditions so old
I cannot give up now I'm so close to my gold

Just look up to the Stars

I sometimes wish I could see the sky
As it was in times gone by
When the only light that would pierce the night
was from a candle placed nearby

These days of Cities neon-lit
Bouncing off the clouds
Conceal the the stars and blur the view
As if they were wrapped in shrouds.

I crave the night by a fires light
The milky way a-glow
Old Venus there up in the west
The Southern Cross on show.

And, what a sight is a satelite
Coursing accross the sky
Binoculars on, I burst into song
And watch it passing by.

I love to gaze up at the stars
And see it's wonderous sight
It fills my heart, my senses surge
My soul floats up on-high.

So if,per-chance your feeling down
Your soul needs a cleansing rinse
I kid you not don't feign a wince
Just look up to the Stars.
