Hi all. Dug up this from near an old sugar mill which operated for 100 years was dug up about 200mm down. I can see some letters. Maybe VII or or II A maybe. Any help with id and age etc appreciated

Any chance of some dimensions like throat dia., case length, base dia. etc?...

Is it me, or do i also see the letters, (~ 3:00 pos) M, and F/E?

Cheers

I reckon I'm gunna call it as 303 then!

Quite a thick casing compared to the modern casings from 303s I have found.

cheers

A 303 case is 13.72mm across the base and just over 10mm across the body of case half way along. :)

Some 303 cases do have vii as headstamps.

Cheers

Certainly a 303. I have a current vintage live round on my desk at the moment. It is 13.72 across the base and 10mm across the body half way down. Rockhunter is spot on. They will have different stampings on them depending on there age and where they were made. On the base, mine has PPU on the top and 303 BRIT on the bottom. Don't know what PPU means but the other stamp is clearly signifying a British 303.

Hope that all helps

Cheers mate. Hard to date based on condition but all good. Into the bucket of finds it goes. Lol
