I managed to escape from renovating for a bit yesterday and decided to try a new creek that looked promising. I only managed to get a couple pans in before the biggest, dirtiest leeches I've seen decided to show up to try and ruin my day. Not a problem I thought, I'll just head to my usual spot, jumped in the car to head off and the Missus' little Santa Fe's transmission had packed it in! So a nice slow 70km car ride home with the car in limp-home-mode followed :| . I only managed to find a little bit of gold, but it's courser than my usual spot, so I'll definitely be back (only with gloves)!

Are the roads near the gold bearing creeks 2WD?

It's mainly dirt road, but most of it is in pretty good condition, aside from the occasional pot hole/rocky patch. Most of places I go in the area are right next to the road too.

If you have a 4x4 there's a good camping spot right on Prospect Creek, the track there is a bit rutted out but nothing extreme (the missus' Santa Fe with road tyres gets there no worries). I'll take some photo's next time I'm there.

There's more crevices there than you could poke a shovel at, so much exposed bedrock! You can keep following the bedrock upstream for ages, and it looks to be the same downstream.

That does look similar, even the flora looks the same.

No worries, it's reasonably close (depending on your definition of close) to Deptford/Store Creek too.

The river looks a lot like the one I use my Highbanker.

What I have found is that the rich gold wash is on the flat areas on the lowest areas. Not necessarily in around around the rocks above the creek.

I found the wash layer there. It's where is was described in Trove.

Once your there then its volume throughput.

I'd be looking for ground like that on that creek. Might be worth a try.
