So I've heard round the tracks about Bush Cherry(Cherry Ballart), being a good indicator of gold bearing soils.

IS there any truth to this rumour? I've seen a few of them round in the GT.

Thanks

James

Turkey bush could be seen as an indicator in the NT, if you are in known goldfields. Turkey bush dosnt like top soil, so it grows well in areas that have been surfaced, as well as areas with shallow bed rock.

I have Cherry Ballarts spread over my property in Warrandyte (ground very shallow). They're protected as I found out by running a Bobcat over one and was reported to council who delivered a hefty fine. Will have to keep a lookout in the GT - thanks for the tip.
