Getting close to christmas i have started trying to make a few presents for family and friends. Not being able to afford to start silver work yet i decided to try some blank findings, the first couple seem to have come out ok.

Thanks guys, it is very satisfying to watch a rough piece of rock slowly turn into a piece of jewellery.
Have a couple more to make, but will also be trying to facet a couple of stones for rings. Fingers crossed its smooth sailing wink

The wife decided she wanted to have a go at wire wrapping today. For her first attempt and no instruction i think she did quiet well.

Thanks guys. Mrs Shivan was not sure if it looked any good and apparently i am biased, so it will do her good to hear that others didn't think it was horrid for a first attempt.
I will buy here a few more different gauge wires and see if she keeps going with it. But I sure do have enough rocks for her to wrap if she does enjoy it lol

I have been playing round with some dendritic opalite or moss agate over the last few days as a present for Mrs Shivan.
This bit is set in silver and i think turned out nice, but hard to get a good photo.

Thanks guys, the silver sets it off nicely i thought, but would have been nice to do something custom.
Will be time to jump back on the faceting machine soon as i now have two rings to do. Will be the first time i have tried to facet a stone to a certain size so could be a complete disaster.

Cheers Lefty, i do have a digital caliper, just have not put it to much use with the faceting yet. They are both going to be square cut stones, so i am hoping i cant mess it up too badly wink

Here is Mrs shivan second attempt at wire wrapping a stone. Her wrapping is much better, but the stone was a little thin so does not sit as nice as it should.
