CTX 3030 finds by Ramjet

Hi Rod,
Yes mate, back from the gold fields with 7.8 grams of the yellow stuff, the new 19" coil picked up a 1.7g and a small 0.27g; just as an aside, if you think the 3030 is a tad heavy , try the 7000+19" coil for weight, holy crap LOL.
Had a quick run over the sand pit as you call it the other night, not much else happening on the beaches, came away with 2x 3p's 1x half penny and one penny all well and truly corroded beyond any worth.

Been busy lately and hardly been online and haven't had a proper hunt in a while. I was awake early this morning so decided to have a short hunt before the heat kicks in.
The 17 inch coils certainly covers some ground. I find I am doing more grid work with it than I used to do. This site has been well hunted before and some of the coins were deepish... the length of the pin pointer for some of them.

Wondered where you were, nice collection of coins, the 17" coil certainly covers some real estate fairly efficiently and quite fast at the same time, these days it's pretty much my go-to coil for general detecting; I run a 7000 battery on the 3030 while using the 17" coil,improves the balance quite nicely.

G'day Sinhoff , I find if you drop the sensitivity down low and up tone , put on salt , you can get really close to concrete and metal structures for those hard to reach items . Sorry for high jacking your thread Rod.

Thanks guys. I haven't been out as much as I would like. Really need to put some hours in with the CTX to become confident with it.

Another early hunt this morning. Just to a local spot that I have been over before. Someone else has dug a LOT of plugs in the last few days. I have been doing nothing but grid work with the larger coil on the CTX. Feel more confident that I am covering the area completely and I guess it is the only way to be sure.
I did find both sides of the pocket knife but must have dropped one of them. I'll go back over and pick it up later.

The 17 x 13 coil is a beast RJ , can definately cover territory with it.

The 1916 P looks like it could clean up cool green

Interesting pieces for sure. The round one seems to be some type of brooch or similar. It has a type of clasp on the back. See pic. It's a tiny bit smaller than a 20 cent piece.
The centre piece is a very solid brass. The bottom 2 sections look like they had some bolts or something through them as they look like they have been distorted by pressure on them?

I thought the brass piece maybe a saddle part or a pivot bracket for a coach, type thing 8)

Been busy and not able to get out detecting. Got in a short swing today. I am still learning the CTX and going over old sites that Rocket and I have done with the At Pro and Deus. Apparently we didn't miss much. One interesting find today was the Chesterman Sheffield piece. Some people may remember when lengths were measured in "chains". RJ we are lookin for train drivers up here and after yesterday and todays debacle maybe a new board. Come on up the weather is perfect, aaaaahhhh part from the storms, hail stones as big as tennis balls and bloody flies (don't know where they have come from). you would love it.
