Some finds with the xtera 70 and xtera 305

My second hand xterra 305 arrived yesterday .Had a quick swing around the backyard this morning.Plenty of targets to be had mostly junk but I did find an old bullet mould and what I think is a dog rego tag?Any ideas on the age of the bullet mould? The bullet sitting on the mould I found 50m from where the bullet mould was. Dog rego tag? After a spray with some lube and some patience she popped open and the bullet fit perfect. The backyard.

Rockhound, that bullet mould is the ducks guts. Well done, just the start of some amazing finds i am sure.

Looks like an old coin and relic hunting heaven to me, I would be all over it if it were me.

That bullet mould would be pretty damned old, what a great find.

Another quick hunt this arvo.Got my first coin .(second if u count 1c pieces) and a button.The coin is in bad condition any hints on how to clean it or is she buggered? I think the coin is a penny. can just make out some letters .
The button says "chas gilberts Brisbane".

electrolysis, or wire brush....both methods devalue coins....but that one is toasted

Congratulations on your first coin Rockhound, though as Rocket mentioned, there will be little you can do to clean up that coin aside from washing some soil from it. You could use electrolysis to remove most of the oxidation, but it will leave you with a heavily pitted coin. Best to leave as is, and look forward to your next coin find.

Hi all, Cleaned up that coin I found yesterday, just a bit of a rub with a rough cloth and some detergent.Cleaned up enough to read the date.It is a 1913 one half penny.Happy as I could read the date now for something older

1913 is a nice early one for your first pre Dec. get out there and dig more holes.

1913 is pretty early really, not many hunts I find earlier than that

Took your advice Ramjet and dug more holes today a lot of holes .Gridded an area of the back yard and went over it with a fine tooth comb.Got my first silver and a florin to boot. The usual junk The Florin in situ.
