gems in orange ???

has there ever been gem stones found in the orange or there abouts.
was just wondering as it is a volcanic place.

Im currently skipping though a book i found in the bookcase at my grandmothers. Its "guide to Australian gemstones" It has some old maps with towns marked where gemstones have been found. Orange is on the map. What sort of stones that are there I dont have a clue. And I dont really know anything about gemstones. My advice is ask some locals. With all the research you do sometimes you just cant beat some local knowledge.
