Silver, you are so keen, sounds like a new lease on life mate.

:)

I have a jar full of face coins I need to go thru, a job for Kato next school holidays I think,
guessing there are more than 600 coins in there, all values, apart from what I have given the girls to put into
their individual 'collection' books.

Most in good condition too.

I will put up pics, they are on the wife's phone.

I'll be keen up to a point Gh... once I find the few I'm after I recon I might just keep up with some of the new ones as they come out. It's certainly easier than forever watching the change that passes through your hands... gives you a heads up before the person that was destined to find it in their change lol..... it's as cheap as what you could afford to keep, with the chance of finding coins worth several times their face value ( in the case of the 1972 5c up to a hundred times its face value as long as it's not totalled completely), (and I found two of those 72 5c's last week :p ).

The real problem is going to be slowing down as it looks a little addictive lol.
I watched one of those utube videos and did hear the fella say he had searched over $500 000 dollars (at least he never had to pay for it all up front at once)... but... in so saying it puts a rich persons hobby into the hands of the poor (we just never realised it was all until now).

Any way.... I'm out n about with Mrs S having appointments and she could phone me at any moment..... so I'd better keep my posts short hey :D
I'm looking forward to seeing how we all do.... and if there is really a dollar or two in value adding or....
if it's just a bit of a phantasm. :cloudy:

Anyways I betta get serious hey.
Ten cent search board so you can save the photo if ya need it.
not sure why it was a 69.... but there must be a reasoning beyond me.

I did put a few others aside, it's a bit like fishing I guess, you can always chose to throw them back if you think nah.... a bit later.

If they look really good but they're not a keeper I still look at them closely for errors, because I'm supposing it'd be even better to have an error coin in a higher grade (I do the same for the younger head coins if they look nice for errors too)..... I recon subconscious is playing the game a bit too cause a close look with a loupe after getting a (read that) feeling a few times has revealed some errors that i couldn't see for looking at a glance (gotta trust subconscious hey).

I'll make up a basic search board as I go for each denomination.... I'm finding it easy enough to just have my phone stay on beside me with the search board up for reference... there is no possible way I could keep all this type of information ready in the fore brain during a hunt(there's just too much) I struggle to keep just two things in the mind while doing a search in a shopping isle (gotta have a list lol)..... probably why detecting is great for me, cause it's just signals and digging with a simple choice of whether to dig... or not.

Anyway, I personally find that having the search board in chronological order makes it easy to cross reference at a glance on the fly
... just too hard with it all written on that paper and getting mixed up in the wrong columns..... plus... I can look up all I'm finding about a particular denomination as I go... and look at my notes taken from the utube videos.. and string it all together(hope it helps ya's).

Just remember... if you look at it and think I wouldn't want that coin... then throw it back (unless it's a doozy) :D
And it's no good keeping too many of something unless you want to collect it..... as for selling.... well I've never tried yet lol (that'd be something to have to learn I'd suppose.)
Anyway... find a :gemstone:

Kato and I went for a dig in a park yesterday.

I got a girl 3yr old to dig out a 1966 1c, her Dad identified it as a 1966.

Later a boy 5yr old to find and dig up a 1966 2c, his Dad thanked me.
I think the boy had some level of Autism.

Both coins in good condition, just a little mud.

:)
Yeah sorta the same... I had daughter laughing because I never even missed the roll she slipped away from me.... she never made it to the shops with it though :D I'd show her how to hunt rolls, but it's just the physical value of money she really loves atm :)

I hunted $800 of $1.00 coins :p

I spoke to Kato about your list Silver, she is about to get a new scope to look at things closely.

Then she will be at your game too. She has been checking change for ages.

 :8

Told her to look at $100 only at a time, buy a new album just to hold each denomination.

Where can you get those single card coin holders please ?

O:)
