The other day i went out on a treck to a spot i thought may have some goodies from the early 1900s. I was wrong. So i ventured off track hoping to find treasure. No signals for an hour then i got this iron signal. I didnt think much of it until i took it home and sure enough its attracted to a magnet. Sand bush locaion. I thought could be a small meteorite / fragment. Weighty for its size. 6 pence for scale

The glassy face looks heated/polished and the fine faces could indicate it was part of a larger rock that exploded on entering the atmosphere.

The nature of its angles could also indicate it is shrapnel, a lot of dune areas were used for live practice ranges in the 40's.

Bottom line = no idea

the area (seaside) all iron scrap i do find is rusted to buggery. This however is not, and is black. with any luck is meteorish :)

Now i know i may sound crazy for thinking.. but posting this reminded me of an unusual iron find late last year. Crawled on my hands and knees to get to this little opening, no way could anyone walk or push their way through here but i saw an unusual opening or cleared area may 5x5metres say. And i started swinging. Sure enough in thr centre was an irion signal. I dug and pulled this out. Rusted iron to me but intregueing shape so i kept it. Started swinging and more smaller much smaller 4x2cm which matched this larger piece. 2 smaller pieces say 1 metres away. Nothing else in this area just rusted iron.

There was so muvh crust and sand combiled with the rusted it formed a dense stubborn layer.
long story shot. Mollases mix for 2 months rough estimate most of it came off.
At the time didnt think meteorite. Though old heavy rusted gun enfrusted. By the shape. But now after some research reminded me of the appearence and likeliness of an iron meterore. I will get it cut soon, to see the inside. A brief knife scratch shows shiny iron inside.
but now being left for 5 or months with no after care has started rusting again.
or its just a chunk of random human insignificance
