Some places can be off limits and Life guards can and will ask you to move on, if your disturbing others...
Have seen some people rush in and detect, even as the people are packing up and shaking their cloths out etc.

Yes beaches are legal providing its not within a National Park.
A contact of mine got fined and told not to detect at Wilson,s Prom as its a National Park.

A few years ago the green lobby was trying to implement a statewide ban on families or anyone building sand castles on a beach?
It was reported via the media and there was a newspaper article on it?
It was claimed that such activities increased erosion of our beaches?
